trending natural hair products for 2014

This month we’re talking about what’s trending on the beauty scene. Today, I’d like to share some of the hair products that are gaining in popularity amongst ladies with natural hair.

There are so many natural hair products on the market. It’s easy to become a product junky! After all, who wouldn’t want to try products with yummy names like YAM Nectar and Sweet Ambrosia?!

It’s so easy to get caught up with all the various brands on the market but it’s also fun to try new brands. Some natural hair products are gaining lots of attention. Naturals everywhere swear by them because they seem to play nicely with all hair types. It doesn’t hurt that they many of them smell absolutely yummy.

Karen’s Body Beautiful

Known for its ability to quench dry tresses, Karen’s Body Beautiful is a fave of many. (I hope they are at the Hair Show in Atlanta! Best place to get hair products at a discount is hair shows!) Some of the products in the line are a little pricey (even at Target) but I hear they are well worth the cost. This is definitely a brand I intend to try soon. Butter Love anyone?

Chamille Rose Naturals

Also available in Target, more naturals are trying products from this line and loving it. I am in total love with the Fresh Curls Revitalizing Hair Smoother. It works wonderfully at smoothing frizz while also moisturizing the hair.

Alikay Naturals

This line is buzzing among the natural hair community. Could it be because Rochelle Graham-Campbell (creator aka BlackOnyx77 on YouTube) has shown the world that kinky curly hair CAN grow past shoulder length? The Alikay Naturals line will soon be available at Target as well but if you visit their website, you can look at the various product offerings by hair type (not the 3, A, B, C kind either :-))

Aubrey Organics GPB

Aubrey has lots to offer in the way of hair care products but it appears the GPB (Glycogen Protein Balancing Conditioner) is finally getting the attention it deserves. This is the best product I have ever tried for hair that needs protein/moisture balance restoration. Nothing can touch it. Period. I have felt this way for a few years and now others are catching the wave. Tons of naturals are using it (especially to  pre-poo). Just check out the many natural hair videos popping up on YouTube.

Kinky Kashmere

A pretty new line available on Facebook only (as of the writing of this post), Kinky Kashmere’s All in One Conditioner seems to be growing in popularity.  The products boast being able to keeping kinks and coils moisturized while also infusing beneficial nutrients and essential oils.

Lush’s Hair Care Products

Hailed as being perfect for thick hair, Lush’s Curly Wurly is a moisturizing shampoo that’s green-friendly. Then, there’s the Jasmine & Henna Fluff Eaze, an alternative to silicone based products for smoothing frizz. Hmmm, need to keep an eye on these.

Shea Moisture

Not really a new brand amongst naturals, Shea Moisture is constantly innovating with new products as evidenced by their two newest hair care lines: Tahitian Noni & Monoi Smooth & Repair and Ammonia Free Hair Color System. Shea Moisture certainly knows how to cater to the needs of us naturals. (Beauty teaser: A new makeup line is launching soon!)

Have I awoken your inner PJ yet? 🙂 Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Plan to? I do!

  1. My inner PJ has been out and about (I’m openly a PJ! LOL!) for a bit. The Karen’s Body Beautiful has always appealed to me. I don’t see it in my Target, but I’ll keep looking. I pass the Lush store when I’m in the mall, now I have a reason to stop by!

    1. I think the KBB is newly in Target so it’s taking some time to get around to all the stores. However, they are based in Bklyn, NY and since I’m in NY, maybe it’s just here 🙂
