For the past year I’ve really been getting in touch with my hair – it’s type, texture and reaction to various products.
***************************************************************************************************
When you decide to go natural, it’s more than just a fad. You should be prepared to do what it takes to keep your hair in a healthy state. That means loving your hair and protecting it from harm.
In a post I wrote about preventing single strand knots, I shared cutting back on wash and go’s.
Wash and go’s do have their place in a natural hair regimen – that is if they don’t cause your hair any harm.
In my case, I’ve decided to add wash and go’s to my natural hair regimen during the summer. It’s actually helped me to revive some of my curls.
So, I’ve said all that to say that while I’m doing these wash and go’s, I’m also discovering what products work for my 3c classified hair type. To keep track of the various products, I record a video review. Each of these reviews are linked on a single page so that you don’t have to look for each of them. You’ll find them here:

As you will see some products work better than others. It’s nice to look back and recall what works and what doesn’t.
Hi Michelle,
Having 6 kids of mixed race makes for a complicated hair care system, lol. Will definitely be a devoted follower to your site 😉 Lily @Militaryfamof8
Aww thanks Lily. Your family is beautiful too.
girl, I showed them the tweet in which you said that… you should have seen the sass these kids struted away with! LOL!!!!! 😉
LOL. Well when you got it you got it. They know it
That’s awesome that you are able to do wash and gos during the summer.Your hair looks great.
Thanks JT. I’m definitely not making this a habit. I do experience more tangling than when I protective style. This is just me trying out the products. Once I find the “holy grail” for my wash and go’s, I’ll do them less.
NIce post!!
You have beautiful hair and I think it’s great that you are natural with it! I see so many of my students [5 year olds] coming in with perms & weaves already in their hair and I think it’s really sad to subject these little girls to that. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than the natural look!
Thanks Robin. It took me a while to learn because honestly I WAS the parent that relaxed her 5 year old daughter’s hair. I didn ‘t know any better back then. She’s 17 now and I’m having the toughest time convincing her that her natural hair is best.
I’m so jealous, I have straight hair and I really wish I had your curls. I love your hair like this, you were wise to say bye to all the styling tools etc. because you have naturally beautiful hair!
aww thanks Lisa 🙂
I need to learn how to manage my curls because atm im addicted to my ghds!
I always love to hear about new products and brands, and I’ve started to try the natural look with my hair more lately whereas I used to obsessed with my straightners 🙂
I used to straighten a lot also but that was when I didn’t know how to style my curls.
Many of the products I’m reviewing aren’t really new but as you probably know, different products react differently on different hair types and textures.
So I figured I’d share my results with people who have hair similar to mine! 🙂
