Dove Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner Review & $1,000 SpaFinder Gift Card

dove nourishing oil care conditioner

Last weekend I finally got around to touching up my grays with henna. I didn’t do a full  henna because I didn’t feel like it nor did I have time. Long days with little sleep is taking a real toll. So, changes are coming. But, I digress.

Normally I’d wash my henna out with a slippery conditioner like Hello Hydration. Since, I received Dove Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner to review I figured I’d give it a shot at co-washing out my henna.

As a natural, you know just how important it is to have a conditioner that has great slip. Without it, detangling would be a hot  mess.

If you’ve not tried Dove Nourishing Oil Care conditioner, I think you’d be pleasantly surprised if you do. Not only is the slip fantastic, the smell is light and pleasant. There also doesn’t appear to be a lot of coloring in the conditioner.

Now, on to more details about this conditioner.

The bottle is a pretty decent size and the conditioner dispenses very easily. I did have to use about 1/3 of the bottle for my hair but that’s nothing new. I use about the same amount with all my other rinse out conditioners.

This conditioner DOES contain silicones. I know some naturals try to avoid silicones. It doesn’t bother me one way or another. Water soluble silicones are best if you are going to use hair products containing them. Dove Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner contains dimethicone which may or not be water soluble. It depends. For example, PEG-12 dimethicone IS water soluble but  Cetyl dimethicone is not. The ingredients just state that the conditioner contains dimethicone. I’m not concerning myself with it one way or the other.

The whole science behind silicones is relatively new to me and I’ve used plenty of conditioners containing them before without any ill effects to my hair. If you’re concerned, you could always do an apple cider vinegar wash once a month to remove build up.

Either way, if you like other conditioners like Hello Hydration then you obviously have no problem with silicones. Silicones are what help the conditioner do its work to make detangling a breeze.

Here’s what the manufacturers of Dove Nourishing Oil Care have to say about this conditioner:

  •  Smoothes dry, rough and frizzy hair
  • Fiber Active technology penetrates deep inside the hair strand, helping rebind damaged proteins (Intensive Repair and Color Repair only)
  • Patented Micromoisture Serum targets damage, repairing the surface of hair by sealing lifted cuticles

As for me and my hair, I can attest (and y’all know that I don’t promote products I don’t like) that this is a great cheapie (about $5 retail) wash out conditioner. My hair was left feeling soft and smooth but not stripped. The detangling process was easy peasy and that’s just what I look for in a conditioner.

I was able to easily run  my fingers down my hair strands and carefully remove knots and tangles. I didn’t have many but I did have a few since I had worn a wash and go for a few days.

  1. I definitely love to use Dove conditioner, it is very good for the hair. If you want to make your hair more cute and fashionable like model’s one, you can also use the shampoo together with the conditioner.

        1. Honestly, I don’t think there is a secret. Everyone must find out what works for their own hair. For me, it’s minimizing how much I manipulate my hair. That, and using gentle products in a regular hair care regimen
