Natural Twist Hairstyles – 3 Looks From The Same Style

Having natural hair can be fun. I’m always experimenting with new hairstyles. I’m especially looking for ways to make my natural hairstyles last with twists. Be forewarned. This post is heavily infused with photos πŸ™‚

YouTube is my biggest place to find inspiration. Most recently, I saw a video from YouTuber, CharyJay. She created a natural twist hairstyle that I just had to recreate and put my own spin on. You may have seen it on CurlyNikki but if not, check it out below. She’s termed it the Twisted Overflow Up-do:

I recreated this style but pinned it up 3 different ways on 3 different days:

This natural twist hairstyle uses the banana clip and bobby pins to secure it:

This natural twist hairstyle uses nothing but bobby pins to secure it along with a little flower for added flair:

And finally this was created with bobby pins and a headband:

I managed to get these 3 days of styles with my twists which is virtually unheard of for my hair.

So, how did I get my twists to last?

I used Organic Root Stimulater Lock & Twist Gel. I like this gel because it’s not too wet and left my hair feeling very soft and smooth. It feels much like a jelly and provides a decent enough hold that my twists don’t unravel. Well, they did a little on the ends but I just had to re-twist the ends of only a few. So, if you have hair similar to mine and have had difficulty maintaining your twists, you’ll want to try this gel.

Are twists a go to style for you? If so, how long do they last in your hair?

  1. Hey miss! I did see CharyJay’s style in CN and I loved it then too! Love your styles with twists. Have u tried mini twists before? I love them, but hate them all at the same time. Lol.

I forgot I had that twist and lock gel. I’m going to try to remember to use it the next time I twist my hair.

    1. Thanks Rece. I will NEVER do mini twists LOL. for one they have the potential to tangle in my fine hair when it’s time to unravel. I will stick with small twists πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Jin. Me too πŸ™‚ I’m going to actually do a post on my somewhat mini twists that I have now but not til I take them out LOL. I’m styling them differently each day.
