Staple: EcoStyler Curl and Wave Gel

fine natural hair stapleGels are a natural girl’s best friend! That is so long as it doesn’t contain alcohol or any other harmful ingredients. I’ve tried a number of hair gels and as far as cheapie gels go, EcoStyler is the best…IMHO.

There are a number of EcoStyler gels available with various hold levels and none of them contain drying alcohols. They even have cocktails and custards that are a mix of gel and cream but let’s just focus on the gels available.

The key is to discover which of these gels from EcoStyler work best for your hair:

  • Olive Oil – level 10
  • Argan Oil – level 10
  • Krystal – level 10
  • Color Treated – level 10
  • Curl and Wave – level 8
  • Protein – level 8
  • Super Protein – level 10
  • Sport – level 10

I’ve tried all but the color treated, sport and super protein gels. The one that I highly recommend for fine natural hair is the Curl and Wave gel. It’s formula includes tea tree and chamomile. The Curl and Wave gel imparts moisture and brings out the hair’s natural shine. I can say I have experienced it all!

Yet, while I don’t want to disrupt a good thing I’m very interested in trying the Sport gel. I’m a little concerned since it’s a level 10 hold but I’ve heard so many good things about it that I do plan to try it in the future – most likely in the summer.

In the meantime, I’m sticking with Eco’s Curl and Wave Gel for the foreseeable future. Even if I love the Sport gel, the Curl and Wave gel will always be a staple for me.

How I use EcoStyler Curl and Wave Gel

  • for Wash and go’s
  • to smooth frizzes along the crown of my hair
  • to lay down my edges
  • to add a little hold to twists

In this video I share how I make an EcoStyler Custard:

Best Features

The Curl and Wave Gel from EcoStyler is probably the one product that I use every single day. No matter what my hairstyle is, I always lay my edges. This is the gel I use to do it and it’s the best.. I prefer it over the edge control products I’ve tried. When the weather is frigid, I lay my mango butter beneath it for a protective hold.

When rocking a wash and go (and I do it often), the Curl and Wave Gel gives me the best curl clumpage of any gel I’ve ever used. Other gels define my hair but sometimes also leave it looking very piecey. (aka stringy). When I set my curls with EcoStyler’s Curl and Wave Gel, my situation is that of a wash and go superstar! Every day it gets better :-).

    1. Hi, you can use gel on any hair type but if your hair is relaxed, it won’t encourage a curl. On relaxed hair, the gel will smooth the hair so can be used for things like protective styles to eliminate frizz
