Today is National #WearYourHairCurly Day

Garnier Fructis is sponsoring Wear Your Hair Curly Day today.

While I wear my hair in its naturally curly state most of the time anyway, I was twisted and braided up for a while. Since I took the pledge, I removed my braids and am rocking my hair curly to support the cause!

By wearing your natural curls, Garnier Fructis will donate up to $20,000 to benefit the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls. This camp helps to build self esteem and creativity in young girls through performing arts.

How I Set My Curls

In my pic I’m rocking a simple wash ‘n go using Teri LaFlesh’s Tightly Curly Method. Basically, I washed my hair, left my conditioner in and defined my individual curls with my fingers. I also used my modified Denman brush AFTER my hair was detangled. It helps my curls to clump faster.

Products used:

  • AS I Am Coconut CoWash to Cleanse
  • Dove Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner to finger detangle and set the curls
  • Thirsty Roots Apricot Castor Oil to Seal

That’s it! I left the Dove in and while it takes a little longer to dry than some conditioners, my hair is super moisturized and defined.

  1. Hey Michelle,

I love the versatility of shrinkage and as I wear my hair during the week it elongates. I am trying the Apricot castor oil. Right now I am using the Jamaican black castor oil. I put essential lavender oil drops in to get that great smell. I mainly use the castor oil for my ends.

    Your hair looks lovely.

    1. Thanks JT šŸ™‚ Our hair is similar in that way. As the days go by my curls elongate. I’m loving the apricot castor oil. Its not as thick a JBCO but I still love it. I wish they would sell in stores.
