An Elongated Twist Out Using Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Butter

Twist Out results using Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter

I’ve never been a big fan of twist outs on my natural hair. The definition was always inconsistent. My natural curl pattern would take over and aint nobody got time for all that twisting only for it to look like I didn’t do much of a thing!

Yet, I’m no quitter. I’ve tried multiple products for my twist outs. I began to like my braid outs better but then I realized something. “Maybe it’s not the products. Maybe it’s my techniques.” So, I began to change things up….

For starters, I now do my twist outs on damp or dry stretched hair. The wet hair twist out technique only leaves my hair very shrunken and not as defined as I would like.

Anywho, after this realization I decided to try my hand at Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter. So many naturals rave about this product. On top of that, I really love their Fresh Curl Revitalizing Hair Smoother so figured I’d give the Almond Jai a try (I’m in rhyming mode yes).

To say that I was less than impressed with the smell and the application of the Almond Jai Twist Butter is an understatement. The results on the other hand were pretty good. I like that my curls were sort of stretched and defined. They were also very soft. The problem with too soft though is frizz is right around the corner. So, while I was pleased with the results, I’m probably not going to repurchase this product. I’m also going to use it up by layering some gel over it to give it more hold. However, while I won’t repurchase the twisting product, I definitely will be using their new coconut water conditioner (pictured above) on a regular basis. More on that in a future post.

Either way, I have tried numerous other twisting products which I think having more holding power and they are less expensive. For example, I just picked up one of the natural hair community’s best kept secret…..Kinky Kashmere! I got this from the All About The Curls Meetup in Atlanta when I flew down for the World Natural Hair Show. Sista girl was selling the products out of a suitcase and after hearing others talk about how lovely the products were I had to support a sister. I’ll be sharing a full review on what I got from the Kinky Kashmere line in my next post or maybe a couple of posts down the line.

  1. So the best product was one you bought out of a suitcase? Gotta love a hustler lol

This is why I enjoy going to meetups and natural hair events. There are tons of lesser-known natural hair products and vendors out there with fabulous merchandise just waiting to be discovered. Just because they don’t have millions of ad dollars or celeb endorsements doesn’t mean they’re not just as good.

And girl, when did your hair grow so much? Did I miss a growth spurt?

I was never a big fan of twist outs, either. My hair texture/nappiness isn’t consistent so some sections looked good and others looked…not so good lol

    1. growth spurt? Ha! where? same ole same ole. Maybe it’s just stretched more than usual.

well yes I will say next to the camille rose coconut water conditioner, that Kinky Kashmere was my fave. I’m already 1/2 ways through the jar!
