Not too long ago I shared my revised and simplified hair care regimen. It seems I’ve been able to nail down the hair care products (shampoo, conditioners and stylers) that work very well for my hair.
However, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy trying the occasional new product
I was sent Davines NouNou Pak Nourishing Repairing Hair Mask with Olive Butter for dry brittle hair to review. Before I share the pros and cons of this product, let’s take a look at what the manufacturer has to share on this hair mask. Let’s start with the most important…Ingredients!
INGREDIENTS: Cherry oil, Olive Butter, Rhizobian gum
That is ALL the ingredients that Davines shares on their website. What’s up with that?
Maybe Davines is keeping their ingredients hush hush to protect their proprietary blend but here’s my problem with that. “How the heck are consumers supposed to know what we are buying if you don’t share the FULL list of ingredients??”
Now, the ingredients may be listed in full on the product labels but since I received a trial size, I can’t read those ingredients because they are too small to be seen!
Anyway, ingredients aside, here’s more info from the manufacturer:
A complete treatment offering everything dry and brittle hair needs: nourishment, moisture and protection. A nourishing and repairing mask that also contrasts the static effect which causes fly-away hair, making it easier to brush.
HOW TO USE:
Evenly apply a suitable amount of product on washed damp hair. Leave to work for 10 to 15 minutes, comb through, then rinse.
While I do not know the exact formulation of this mask, based on using it a fewtimes I’d say it is TheBombdotCom. Yes, ladies I can’t get enough of it.
Pending review of the ingredient label, I need to get a full size container for future use ASAP! Especially now that we have officially entered the dry weather months.
I was experiencing VERY dry hair after being stuck in the house after Hurricane Sandy. I laid all over my hair with no satin scarf for almost a full week – a cardinal sin against our hair!!
When I finally picked myself up out of the slump, I knew I needed a good deep conditioner to moisturize my tresses and blow a little life back into them. My hair was not only dry, it was limp and lifeless.
Since the NouNou Pak Hair Mask contains olive butter, I figured this would be great to try. Worst case scenario is it wouldn’t do a thing for my hair and I’d go back to my hair mask of choice (Butters ‘N Bars Original Conditioning Hair Mask).
When I was done applying this hair mask, my hair was not only back to normal. The result was beautiful, soft, moisturized, full and strong hair. I was pleasantly surprised. The NouNou Nourishing Repairing Mask did it’s thing on my hair! It has amazing slip too.
While it’s recommended to leave the NouNou Pak on your hair for 15 minutes and then rinse, after applying it to my freshly washed hair I sat under the dryer for 10 minutes to allow this hair mask to really penetrate my hair.
After the treatment, I hopped back in the shower to finish my shower regimen and allow my hair to cool from the applied heat. I then proceeded to finger detangle my hair (See how I finger detangle) which was a breeze with the NouNou Pak on my hair.
The final step was to rinse my hair free of the NouNou Pak and apply a leave in conditioner which was Salerm 21. I then styled my hair by applying Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and allowed it to air dry. My results:
Other than not knowing the full list of ingredients in the Davines NouNou Pak Hair Nourishing Repairing Mask, my only con is that it can be a little on the pricey side. It’s roughly $18 for 8 ounces. If you get the large bottle, 33 ounces it’s $46. This is the cheapest price I’ve found on Amazon. Anywhere else, it’s $22 for the 8 ounces and as high as $70 for the 33 ounce.
You can get quite a bit of treatments from that 8 ounce jar though. I have a sample size and got 3 treatments from it.
This hair mask is apparently a hot commodity (it’s selling very well) and I can see why. If you have dry, parched hair it’s definitely worth trying the 8 ounce jar. This hair mask will revitalize your dry tresses in no time flat.
Not sure? Try it anyway! You can always get a refund. No harm no foul.
