What Daily Faith Looks Like for Christian Women Who Want to Grow Spiritually

If you’re serious about growing in your faith, you can’t leave it up to how you feel from day to day. Spending time with God won’t happen if you go by just your feelings. Spiritual growth takes consistency. To put God first and stay consistent, you need to set up daily routines that keep your heart and mind focused on God.

But, you don’t want to just do routines for the sake of doing them. I’m talking about creating and following faith-filled routines. These can be simple, but the point is for them to become habits that help you stay grounded in the truth of who God says you are and how you should live.

When you stay in communication with God, distractions and discouragement will have a very difficult time ruining your day.

On this page, which I will be continually updating, I’m sharing the morning and night routines that Christian women like myself follow to stay grounded in the faith. These routines are key to living a Christian lifestyle consistently.

The Morning Routine – and why you need one

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
Psalm 5:3

Morning is the best time to jumpstart your day with a routine that supports your walk with God. Fill it with faith-filled activities. When you neglect to give God the first minutes (or hour) of your day, you are essentially walking in self-sufficiency. Well, we were not made to do this life on our own. This is why you need a morning routine.

The Evening Routine – and why you need one

While prayer should be the first part of your day, it’s also a great way to end the day, and it doesn’t have to be long. Simply talking to God about your day is a form of praying.

In addition to prayer, there are other intentional things you can do to not only connect with God but to be a better steward of the life He’s given you.

When you have a solid evening routine that works for you, you’re able to sleep better and wake up more refreshed. While I provide my own personal evening routine to spark ideas, it’s important to develop your own.

Writing the Word

If reading Scripture feels difficult or you’re easily distracted, try writing it instead. Just one verse or one chapter can change your life because it’s actually changing your mindset. Writing Scripture helps you slow down and actually think about what the Word says.

Speaking the Word

Reading the Bible is good. Writing it is better. Speaking it out loud? That’s powerful. Confessing God’s Word helps you fight off fear, stay encouraged, and shift your focus when your thoughts start spiraling.

There’s a verse that says, “Death and life is in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21) That’s why I wrote this article:

Don’t Overcomplicate Your Walk with God

You don’t need an elaborate routine to grow in your faith. In fact, complicated routines usually fall apart because they tend to be based in “striving.”

God never meant for our Christian living to be striving for His approval. The most important thing about this faith walk is consistency.

If you are a new believer in Christ, start with the most important thing: prayer. Spend time in God’s presence talking to Him. Yes, there are specific ways to pray for certain things, but, to start, just talk to God. Tell Him what’s on your heart. Share your deepest thoughts and desires with Him. He knows them already anyway 🙂

Tips for Showing Up

We live in a world filled with distractions. So, you need to be strategic about growing in your faith. Here are some quick tips:

  • When you wake, before you check your phone or do anything else, pray a quick prayer for God waking you up. This can lead to a lengthier conversation.
  • Read or write out a short Bible verse during lunchtime
  • Write out a scripture you want to remember and place it somewhere you’ll see it regularly
  • Tack on one of the routines you just read to a habit you already have. For example, if you journal before bed every night, journal a scripture, and then confess it by mouth.

The goal isn’t perfection. You’ll never be perfect in this human body. It’s progress – day by day, staying connected to God and letting Him lead your life.

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord… proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.”

Psalm 92:1-2
