Growing in your faith requires more than reading your Bible once in a while and simply attending church on Sundays. When you are serious about growing in your faith and ultimately, closer to God, it’s going to take time and a determination that leads you to confront how you think, the decisions you make, and how you respond to the challenges of everyday life.

I created what’s called The Faithful Strand Framework. It’s a way of living that encompasses four biblical principles: Identity, Stewardship, Clarity, and Consistency. Together, they provide a foundation for growing spiritually and putting God’s Word into practice in everyday life.

These principles aren’t stages to work through like my other framework, The Faith Based Natural Hair framework. They’re principles that work together, helping you recognize areas where you’re growing and others that need more attention.

Identity: Standing Firm in Who God Created You to Be

It’s easy to allow your circumstances, past experiences, or the expectations of others to influence how you see yourself. But as Christian women, our identity should be rooted in what God says about us.

Understanding who you are in Christ changes how you approach your relationships, responsibilities, and even the voice you allow inside your own head.

This principle of understanding your Identity is about learning to see yourself through the truth of the lens of God’s Word rather than allowing the world to define your worth.

Scripture references: Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17

Stewardship: Managing What God Has Entrusted to You With Wisdom

The concept of stewardship is mostly known for how a person manages their money, but it goes far beyond that. Biblical stewardship includes how you manage everything that God has entrusted to you. This includes how you manage your time, your health, relationships, talents & abilities, responsibilities, and yes, your finances.

God has entrusted each of us with different gifts, resources, and opportunities. Being a good steward means we recognize their value and make intentional decisions about how we use them, weighing the pros and cons of our decisions.

Do we always get it right? As human beings, that’s highly unlikely. The key, though, is to continually work toward being a good steward over what God has allowed into our care. Doing so produces faithfulness and fruit.

Scripture references: 1 Peter 4:10; Colossians 3:23

Clarity: Finding Direction Through God’s Wisdom, Not the World’s

We make decisions continually, many times throughout each day. Some of these decisions require very little forethought because they come across as simple. Yet, more often than not, our decision-making must be done with careful consideration, prayer, and discernment.

And with so many opinions and influences competing for our attention, it’s easy to become uncertain about which direction to take.

Clarity comes from learning to examine what we’re hearing, thinking, and considering through the truth of Scripture.

Rather than relying solely on popular opinions, emotions, or what seems right in the moment, we are to seek God’s wisdom to help us make decisions that reflect His Word. The more we look to the Lord for direction, the more spiritual discernment we receive in our lives.

Scripture references: Proverbs 3:5–6; James 1:5

Consistency: Living Out Your Faith Through Everyday Choices

Experiencing spiritual growth is ongoing. We will never have “arrived” on this side of heaven. Consistency happens when we make choices again and again. It’s the routines and habits you build that lead to living a consistent life. Reading your Bible, praying daily, making regular confessions based on the Word of God, attending church, and even choosing to forgive others consistently is what brings about spiritual growth in your life.

Consistency means continuing to practice what you’re learning from God’s Word, even when life gets busy, circumstances change, or progress seems slow.

It doesn’t mean you’ll never struggle or fall short. It means remaining committed to growing in your relationship with God and returning to His Word for guidance.

Over time, those repeated choices help strengthen your faith and shape the way you live.

Scripture references: James 1:22; Galatians 6:9

Growing Through Every Season of Life

There will be seasons in your life when you feel confident in your faith. Then, at other times, you will face uncertainty. This is part of the circle of life, but the beautiful thing about it all is that God will never leave us. Even when you feel like you’ve lost your spiritual focus, God gives fresh grace and renewed mercies each day.

These four principles were created to help you focus and get back on track with your spiritual growth when needed. You’ll find articles written here that fall under each of these principles. The library of articles will grow over time, just as your spiritual growth happens over time. Consider this your spot for ongoing support.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s becoming more intentional about living according to God’s Word.
