The Powerful Daily Prayer Routine Every Christian Woman Needs
Christian women have a very special role. God has given us the important task of being moms, wives, and the backbones of our families. With such big responsibilities, we need to maintain a steady daily prayer routine

When life gets busy, it is easy to let our prayer time slip. But daily prayer is what keeps us connected to God. It sets the tone for our days and keeps our priorities in check.
Prayer is a reflection of our faith. It is not about checking a box (although it does feel good to tick something important like prayer off our to-do list, doesn’t it?).
When we pray, we make space to hear from God and respond to Him no matter the season of life we are in.
In this article, you will discover a simple prayer routine that fits your life, no matter how hectic it may get.
Busy Seasons of Life
It’s very easy to allow the busy seasons of life to push prayer to the background. You know those times…
- Kids going back to school
- Holiday seasons like Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.
However, prayer is critical for the believer. The daily habit of prayer will help you stay spiritually grounded, but more importantly, it will keep you connected with the Lord.

Morning Prayers to Start Your Day
Morning is the time that’s most quiet – at least in most homes. Early mornings are even quieter. You may not be a morning person, but knowing you’ll have time with God and no distractions should motivate you to pray as early as possible.
You don’t need to spend hours in prayer every morning, but you should be intentional, not just casual with scattered praying. I won’t tell you exact words to speak because prayer should be personal.
Here are the points to pray in the mornings:
- First, put on the whole armor of God to prepare (see Ephesians 6:10-18). Pray it aloud
- Thank God for what He’s done in your life recently and for whatever else comes to mind
- Praise God for who He is – this is a perfect time to pray through the names of God (you don’t need to pray all – just choose 1 or 2 to make the focus of your day)
- Ask the Lord to direct your day – yield your schedule to Him
While God should not be put on any timeline, you should be able to complete your daily morning prayer in 15-20 minutes. However, make sure you also take time to listen. Prayer is a 2-way communication. You shouldn’t do all the talking without doing any listening.

Evening Prayer to End Your Day
Ending your day in prayer gives you the opportunity to slow down and reflect on your day. It is a chance to review your day with God and receive wisdom from Him.
As the sun sets and your day closes out, your brain (and spirit) have experienced quite a bit of stimulation throughout the day. You’ll sleep much better and find peace if you pray before your head hits the pillow.
Here are the points to pray before bed:
- Release any worries that may have arisen from the day
- Repent of any sin you have committed (if you did).
- Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart
- Give God thanks for His provision and what went well
- Ask the Lord to watch over your home and family
- Pray for sweet sleep
You can also keep it simple by journaling a few thoughts, praying over your tomorrow, and thanking God for His abiding presence.

Scriptures About Prayer
While I’ve offered you some simple prayer pointers, I want you to know that these aren’t just my opinion. They are backed up by scripture.
Here are just a few Bible verses about prayer that you can read again and again to help you stick with your new prayer routine:
1 Kings 8:59 – And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each dayโs need,
Mark 1:35 – Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Psalm 100:4 – Enter his gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise His name.
Psalm 119:133 – Keep my steps steady by your word; donโt let any sin rule me.
Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Using a Prayer Planner
If you struggle to gather your words when praying, consider using a prayer planner.
A prayer planner is a helpful tool that brings structure to your spiritual life. It keeps you intentional about what you are praying for and even provides you with a tangible record of answered prayers.
You can use a prayer planner to write down:
- things you are thankful to the Lord for
- prayer requests that others have asked of you
- personal prayers
- any other prayers (see What to Pray When You Don’t Know What to Pray)

Final Thoughts
Having a regular prayer routine isn’t about following some ritual so you can label yourself a good Christian.
Prayer is a gift and a responsibility. If you reframe your belief about prayer from “I have to pray” to “I get to pray,” you’ll find that both your morning and evening prayers are an enjoyment. You’ll look forward to spending time with God every day.
