Best Edge Control Products for Fine Hair

It doesn’t matter if it’s date night or women’s day at the church. You want your hairstyle to represent you well. Laid edges are your style completer.

Not too long ago I shared a simple method to lay your edges without using an actual edge control product. This method allows you to easily smooth your edges and avoid breakage. #ScoreforFineHair

The point of that article was to show that when in a crunch, you can come up with your own way of doing things…..namely laying those edges!

In spite of the ease of being able to create your own edge controller, there does come a time when you want a quick applying and effective edge taming product. Before I share the three brands that I REALLY like (one of them I LOVE), do you remember what life was like without these kinds of products?

I’m in my late 40s. Back in high school, I don’t ever recall having a product available that would smooth and lay my edges. No, wait there was one….

Jam!

Remember that product? I think it’s still available in stores but the problem with Jam is it’s just too darn tacky. It’s also so thick and when you apply it to your edges, it looks soooo shiny. Way too shiny. Like, unnaturally so. You have to really smooth and smooth and blot to make those edges look like they belong with the rest of your hair.

Anyway, enough of the trip down memory lane. Let’s get to those edge tamers that work great on fine natural hair.

In order of preference, here is what I’ve discovered to be the top three edge control products for fine hair (Beneath the list is an in depth video video of my demonstrating each edge tamer in action):

MIELLE ORGANICS Honey & Ginger Edge Gel

First off, I love the smell of this edge control product.

Second, it leaves your edges with the most flexible hold due it having a somewhat butter like consistency. It’s not even the consistency of a true gel. The ingredients are clean and you actually get a nice amount of product for the money.

AUNT JACKIE’S Flaxseed Tame My Edges Smoothing Gel

Another edge holding product that’s not the consistency of a gel. This product is phenomenal and slaying and laying those edges. The addition of flax seed, argan oil and grape seed oil makes this edge control product perfect for preventing thinning edges. The ingredients that formulate this edge tamer are also clean. The scent is very light, nearly unnoticeable.

CURLS Blueberry Bliss Control Paste

The consistency of this hair paste is similar to that of Aunt Jackie’s and performs in much the same way. I love the holding power of this product. I only wish the ingredients were more natural. Not everyone cares if their hair products are all natural – only the performance level. This one definitely performs well on fine hair.
