Simple Devotional on Wisdom That Challenges What You Think You Know
a devotional with wisdom Bible verses

Intro
Being arrogant enough to think you know enough to set your life on the desired path of success will be humbling. Yet, human beings have had this mindset since the beginning of time.
Human beings have had this mindset since the beginning of time. Why else would Adam and Eve eat that forbidden fruit that changed the course of all humanity?
Yet, we can’t be too hard on Adam and Eve because every day we make choices that say, “I know better than God.” No. You may not use those words. Maybe it goes more like:
- “I can figure this out.”
- “I’ve got this under control.”
- “God helps those who help themselves, right?”
- “Let me do my research first.”
Do any of these sound familiar?

Well, while you may be capable of gaining some knowledge that can make a great impact on society, knowledge without wisdom is pointless.
Scripture Focus: Wisdom – Verse of the Day
The scripture focus of today’s devotional reading is from 1 Corinthians 1:25-29 NIV:
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,
29 so that no one may boast before him.
Reflections & Encouragment
We live in a world that measures wisdom by influence, a person’s degrees, or impressive titles. It’s easy to look at people with big platforms, long résumés, or high achievements and assume they have all the answers. But God doesn’t operate by human standards.
This scripture reminds us that God delights in using what the world considers foolish or weak to accomplish His greatest work. Why?
To level the playing field for all. In God’s kingdom, no one gets ahead by credentials. We’re all invited to walk in His wisdom, not because of who we are, but because of who He is. That means there’s room at the table for everyone.
So, if true wisdom belongs to Him, what’s He got to say about it?
