Creative Ways to Use Up Hair Products

There’s nothing like having a whole host of hair products you just can’t stand. Can I get a witness? That’s why it’s not good to be a product junkie. It’s easy to fall prey to all the new hair products that promise to do such and such but oh what a waste when you find out the product your favorite YouTuber raved about does jack for your hair.
I’m here to help you out.
You don’t want to lose money by throwing away the hair products you spent your hard earned money on. Not even if you do hate them. So, below are some ways to use up hair products to help you get your money’s worth.
Creative Ways to Use Up Hair Products
1. Repurpose
Things like shampoos can be repurposed to be makeup brush cleansers. Forget buying pricey brush cleaners. Just use some of that shampoo you hate.
Soaps you don’t care for can be used to hand wash certain clothing items (check labels for special circumstances). You can even repurpose shampoo bars (aka soaps) to clean other items (ex: spot cleaning stains on furniture). Don’t forget to check for color fastness in a non-conspicuous area.
2. Mix it Up
You can mix up conditioners you don’t like with oils, herbs and other fresh ingredients like avocado and banana, to boost their efficacy. You can create an effective henna or cassia hair gloss using one of the conditioners you don’t like.
Sometimes a conditioner is lacking in certain properties that can be fulfilled with other natural substances.
3. Water it down
Products like shampoos and conditioners may be too thick or not moisturizing enough. Products that are drying to your hair likely don’t have enough water in them or they contain other ingredients that may be drying so why not add it?
4. Share it In House
If you have children or a spouse, use the products in their hair. Just because your hair doesn’t like a particular product doesn’t mean theirs won’t. The exception is if the product is causing hair fall. In that case, don’t use it in anybody’s hair. Chuck that sucker.
5. Be heavy handed
Use excess product to get rid of it faster. This one may seem like a no brainer but it works well if you find a hair product to just be OK and it has no serious negative consequences to using it. You just don’t love it.Â
6. Include Your Body
Use all natural moisturizers and sealants you don’t like on your body. For instance, you may not like coconut oil in your hair but may discover it to be a fine moisture sealant for your skin. The same goes for all natural hair butters.
No chemicals is the key because you don’t want to put things on your skin that could seep into your blood stream. That’s another case for all natural hair products but we’ll save that for another time.
Are there any other ways to use up hair products that you do that I haven’t mentioned?
