3 Fall Hairstyles That Promote Length Retention

As we move into the cooler Fall months, it’s important to start practicing protective hair care. Below you’ll find three fall hairstyles that help promote length retention.

When it comes to fall hairstyling, the keys to a good style (especially for those of us with fine natural hair) are:
- the ability of the hairstyle to have longevity
- ease of setting the style
- the amount of protection the style affords your hair
The fall hairstyles you’ll find below meet each of these criteria. You can easily tie a scarf on your hair at night for at least 3 nights at a time, and not have to redo the style.
Each of these styles requires some manipulation to set the style but either the longevity of the style outweighs the manipulation or the amount of manipulating needed to do the style is minimum.
Fall Hairstyle #1

This hairstyle has a base of two strand twists. I started my twists a little smaller in the back. Then, as I moved forward I made them a big larger. This allows for the hairstyle to last longer. The back section tends to unravel easily. So, making them smaller helps.

Fall Hairstyle #2

The base of this hairstyle is the bun. I love buns in the fall. Adding that twisted “bang” in the front gives it a more retro look.
You can make this look more polished by laying down those edges.
Fall Hairstyle #3
The final style is one of my favorites and a go-to when I need to get out of the house in a pinch. It’s basically two flat twists pinned in the back.

You can change the look of this style and it still be the same by changing the position of the part. You can also choose to braid the hair versus twist it.
However, if you want this fall hairstyle to be as low manipulation as possible, stick with twists. When braiding fine hair you have to be very careful because the very act of braiding can cause breakage.
When it comes to styling your hair in the fall, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple styles like the three I just shared can be done on various hair types and lengths.
Which of these fall hairstyles for length retention do you like best?

All three styles are darling. Styles 2 and 3 have you looking like a cute teen. If I have to choose one, number 2 is my fav!
