Intro

If you are in a season of change or difficulty, it may feel unbearable.

“Like, when is it going to end?”

“Why is God allowing me to go through this?”

“I know trouble don’t last always but this sure feels like it!”

To make matters worst, the enemy will try and convince you that God is either not with you or He doesn’t hear your prayers. He will even use one of his strategies to attack your identity in Christ.

As sobering as it may be, trouble is a part of life. We live in a fallen world marred by sin. So, we will have trouble that comes to us in season. However, God has not left us to fend for ourselves. He’s given us His word.

Scripture Focus – Verse of the Day

For today’s devotional reading, the scripture focus is Exodus 15: 2 NLT:

The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise Him – my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

I like to also read these motivational Bible verses in 2-3 other versions:

“The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. NIV

The Lord is my strength and my power; He has become my salvation. This is my God, whom I will praise, the God of my ancestors, whom I will acclaim. CEB

The Lord is my strong defender; He is the one who has saved me. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will sing about his greatness. GNT

Reflections & Encouragment

While this verse was a song of praise written and sung by Moses and the Israelites of that day, I believe that anything in God’s Word is eternal for either our learning or our benefit.

Some practices may no longer be observed or may not be indicated for Gentile believers but that doesn’t mean that we can’t learn from or engage with them.

In this case, Mose and the Israelites are declaring God to be their strength and their savior. Well, who says that we New Testament believers can’t declare Him to be the same!

In fact, if you are really bent on only claiming promises from the New Testament, check out 1 Corinthians 10:13 which very clearly tells us that anything we go through, someone else has gone through. AND God will strengthen you so that you can bear it.
