Spring is such a wonderful season for so many reasons but the biggest one is it’s a time when you can make some adjustments to just about every area of your life for personal improvement.

After reading this article, you’ll walk away with a spring reset routine for your self-care and lifestyle of faith because that’s what we talk about here at Fine Natural Hair and Faith.

Coincidentally, this is the article that is kicking off our annual spring fiesta! On March 19, 2025, the Spring Into Growth Bundle will be available to help catapult the growth of your hair and your spiritual life. If you’re reading this article after that date, it’s linked. If before, get on our mailing list to be alerted here.

Faith Reset: Strengthening Your Spiritual Foundation

People are looking for reset routines for everything from cleaning the house to losing weight (starting preparations for the summer body, no doubt) but have you ever stopped to wonder what the most important reset could actually be?

I submit to you that it’s your Faith – how you got about living your life in alignment with God. In fact, it’s this type of reset that can set the stage for a perfect life in all the other areas.

Ok, not perfect because nobody has a perfect life but if you put the proper focus on your relationship with God and you will discover an improvement in other areas of your life as well.

Spring is a fresh season for your faith because sometimes, over those winter “dormant” months, it’s easy to fall out of step with the Lord. Blame it on the cold weather that you didn’t go to church as often as you should.

Regardless of the reason, Spring is a perfect time to draw closer to God. Use this time to renew your relationship with Him, seek clarity, and build a stronger foundation of faith.

Now that the weather is starting to warm, it’s the perfect time to adjust your devotional routine. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Get up earlier for prayer and scripture reading
  • Have coffee (or tea) with Jesus
  • If you have a porch, deck, or concrete terrace, spend time sitting outside talking to the Lord
  • Start building a scripture writing habit. I love the email-based one from The Bible Copy Club. You can also download one of my thematic Bible reading plans to create your own experience. Sign up to get access here.
  • Start reading a different version of the Bible. For example, if you always read the King James version, try the New Living Translation or the Amplified Bible version

It really doesn’t take much to reset your devotional life. Sometimes, you just need to make slight tweaks. Major changes aren’t always required. But, sometimes they are.

Bible Verses for a Spiritual Reset

No spiritual reset would be complete without including the word of God. Below you will find 7 Bible verses that you can begin meditating on for peace and renewal. Why 7? Well, it’s God’s number of completion, so what better number! Start with these:

  • Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
  • Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV)“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
  • Romans 12:2 (NIV)“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
  • Psalm 51:10 (NLT)“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
  • Philippians 1:6 (NASB) For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
  • Colossians 3:10 (NLT)“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

Hair Reset: Refreshing Your Natural Hair for Spring

Spring also affords you the perfect time to reset your natural hair routines. This is the perfect time to reassess your routines, styling practices, and hair care products and focus on hydration, protection, and scalp health.

It’s also the best time to get a good trim to get rid of split ends that may have developed over the colder months

Here are some additional ideas for a spring reset routine for your hair:

  • Switch out heavy oils and butters for lighter-weight sealants and styling products
  • Focus on hydration to prevent frizz. This means staying on top of deep conditioning. This is also the perfect time to use styling products that contain glycerin because it’s neither too cold/dry nor warm/humid out yet.
  • Do low manipulation hairstyles that promote length retention and moisture. This could include large twists, twist/braid outs, and even blow out styles. Just don’t use heat regularly.
  • Emphasize Scalp Care for renewal and growth. Exfoliating your scalp helps clear the way for new hair growth, removing dead skin cells. Massaging the scalp more regularly and for longer periods of time helps to stimulate more hair growth

Self-Care Reset: Honoring Your Body as God’s Temple

When you care for yourself, honoring your body as God’s temple, you express gratitude to your Creator. This season, look to get more rest, spend more time reflecting and prioritizing your wellness.

Self-care has somewhat become a fad term in today’s society, but when done the right way, God is honored and glorified.

One way to reset your self care is to take a day for Sabbath. No, the Sabbath isn’t a commandment for Gentile believers but there’s great benefit in observing it – be it a Saturday or a Sunday.

Here are some additional articles to help you do a self care reset so that you can honor your body as God’s temple

Life Reset: Realigning Your Goals with God’s Purpose

Spring is also a season of reflection, which can lead to redirection.

Take some time to evaluate your goals. This could be spring goals or goals for any time later in the year.

You can do this as simple as sitting with a piece of paper and writing out your goals and reflections or in a more structured way like using this Spiritual Growth with Jesus Planner.

Minimize distractions by doing this exercise early in the morning. Perhaps it can become part of your new 5AM morning routine 😉

Lastly, consider creating a God-centered vision board. Vision boards are all the rave for helping you to “see” your life as you want it to be. Not many are God-focused. Most are self-focused. Let yours be different.

Weekly & Monthly Reset: Staying Consistent in Faith & Hair Care

Establish weekly and monthly habits that help you stay committed to your faith, personal growth, and natural hair care journey.

  • Each week, evaluate what you have accomplished and what you would like to change
  • Plan your upcoming week:
    • Your goals focus (no more than 2 or 3)
    • Choose what’s needed to focus on your goals
      • hair products
      • protective hairstyle
      • Scripture readings
      • wash day steps
      • prayer focus
      • any finances you want to allocate

Consistency is key to any changes you want to see become a full-blown reality in your life.

Here’s a simple, fun, and interactive habit tracker to help you with consistency:

At the end of each month, you can create a simple routine to help you reset for the month to come. Here are a few ideas to start you off:

  • Choose a Bible theme to study for the upcoming month
  • Go through your hair (and other beauty) products
    • Get rid of what no longer serves you, is old, or hasn’t/won’t been used
    • Restock your favorites
    • Decide on a small set of products you’ll use for the month (all products from one brand can be very efficient)
  • Plan your upcoming wash days by deciding what specialty hair treatment you would like to do:
    • hot oil treatments
    • protein treatments
    • scalp detoxes
    • DIY hair products
