Devotional: It’s Not OK to Not Be OK
Friday Short devotions for women
Intro
You’ve probably heard the saying, “It’s OK to not be OK.” People who say it mean well. They want you to feel coddled and justified in your feelings. The problem is feelings can get us into trouble.
We are told to not live by our feelings (or our own human reasonings) but to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (see Proverbs 3:5-6)
Scripture Focus
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2 KJV
Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. NLT
Reflections
God is the most purposeful being around. Of course, He’s been around since before time as we know it.
He does not mince words and what He has allowed into the Holy Scriptures through prophets and other eyewitnesses of ancient history are exactly what He wants you and I to know. His Word is inspired by the Holy Spirit (see (2 Timothy 3:16).
In 3 John 2, it’s clear that it’s God’s will for us to prosper in our bodies, our spirits, and our souls. If it were not so, He would have never said it.
Encouragement
You can take God at His word. He wants you to be well—not just OK, but well. So, it’s not OK not to be OK. Yes, we go through things in life, and every day isn’t peaches and rainbows, but those are seasons in our lives that aren’t supposed to last very long.
Depression isn’t your portion
Anxiety isn’t your portion
Overwhelm isn’t your portion
Lack of peace in any area isn’t your portion.
Even in the midst of a trying season, we are to be joyful—not because of what we are going through but in spite of what we are going through.
Take hope in God’s promises to you. If He wants you well, then only you can stand in the way of being so – not the devil and not other people. Come into agreement with God’s word and keep your eyes focused on Him. He will bring His Word to pass in your life.
God Note
For every devotional I write, I want you to focus on the key message. So, I create a sort of note from God from the scripture. Pin it to Pinterest to share this short devotion with other women of God.
