Introduction to Godly Woman Advice About Setting Hair Goals
Hey friend, happy new year! Welcome back to another episode of the Faithful Living podcast. I am your host, Michelle Smith, and in today’s episode I want to dive into something that might seem a little bit unusual at first, but hey, we’re at the start of a new year and it’s time to tie some things together.
So at the start of a new year, many people set goals for the future.
Since we’re all about talking about hair and faith here on this podcast, I want to talk to you about setting hair goals, hair goals that honor God.
Aligning Your Hair Care Choices With Your Values
Now, I know hair care might not always seem like a spiritual topic, but hear me out. While hair care in itself is not spiritual, when you take the time to align your hair care choices with your values, something really powerful can happen.
So, how we approach our hair care now goes beyond just trying to grow longer hair or how to make our hair look a certain way. It becomes a way of honoring the body that God gave us. and showing care for ourselves.
So even when you are like doing your hair, when you’re focused on aligning, how you do your hair, how your’re caring for your hair – with the fact that you are showing gratitude to God for even having hair, it really does help you to identify with who you’re called to be.
A Heart That Honors God
Let me break this down a little bit. Okay, so for the first thing is to start with your heart when it comes to setting hair goals to honor God.
Everything starts with your heart, right? Because the Bible even says out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, but also out of the abundance of your heart really does determine how you kind of move in your everyday life.
So, it’s not about perfection. It’s about intention. So, ask yourself, why do I want to reach the hair goals that I have? Are you trying to keep up with others, maybe keep up with some trends, some bandwagons that you’re on?Â
Or, are you caring for your hair because you see it as a gift from God? A part of your body that deserves love and attention like any other part of your body.
Remember that scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 6 verses 19 through 20 that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit.
Caring for Your Hair as Part of Your Temple
So, when we care for our hair, whether it’s curly hair, straight hair, thick hair, thin hair, we are taking care of part of our temple.Â
So, let that be a reflection of how you value and care for what God has entrusted to you.
Align Your Hair Goals With Your Values
The second thing is to set goals that align with your values.Â
This is kind of connected to the heart. It’s really about setting goals that truly reflect what you value. So, for example, if health is something that matters to you, that you’re focused on, especially in this new year, your goal could be nourishing your hair with natural products that aren’t filled with chemicals.
Or, let’s say if sustainability matters to you, perhaps you’ll make goals around using eco friendly products that reduce waste in your hair care routine.
This is all tied to your values and your values should be tied to, you know, your faith if you’re a believer.
Ditch Comparison
Now, the third thing that you can do that’s an aspect of setting hair goals that honor God is to focus on not comparing your hair with others.Â
We live in a world where comparison is a big struggle, especially when it comes to beauty standards.Â
But here’s the thing. Your hair is unique, just like you. The Bible says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
So set goals that focus on your journey, set personal goals that help you feel confident, healthy and comfortable in your own skin.
Psalm 139 14 tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. That’s the scripture I just referenced. So your hair is a part of that wonder.Â
And, when you embrace it, you honor God and you express gratitude to Him.
Focus on The Process – Not The Destination
The fourth and final thing that you can do is set hair goals that honor God is to celebrate the process.
Remember that hair goals aren’t just about reaching a final destination or a final goal.Â
It’s all about the process. Celebrate small victories, which, in essence, is a form of gratitude to our creator.
Now, to wrap this all up, I want you to just recognize that whether your hair goals are about length, health or just maintaining what you’ve got, remember that they can be a reflection of your heart, your values, and honoring the Lord in the process.
Well, that’s it for today. Again, Happy New Year. And, if you have found this helpful and inspiring in any way, I’d love for you to share this episode with a friend or just leave a review. It really does, you know, send a signal to the podcast folks that, this is a useful podcast series.
And remember, as you work on your hair goals, know that you’re doing it with purpose and intention. That’s a reflection of how wonderfully made you are.
