The internet is rich with content. You can find just about any and everything and that includes getting ideas for how to style your hair. Yet, when it comes down to finding the best source

YouTube is absolutely the best place to go for natural hair inspiration.  I have a few YouTubers that I frequent their pages.  You’ll be surprised to see that not many of them are women of color. On purpose.

Here are my top YouTubers of a Different “Persuasion” for Hairstyle Inspiration:

LuxyHair – From easy to intricate styles, you’re sure to find some inspiration here. And even though she’s not a woman of color, I still find great inspiration from the hairstyles she shares.

Bebexo – A beautiful Asian woman with the longest hair ever! You can gain great inspiration, no matter your hair length

LetsMakeitUp1 (now Kayley Melissa) – She creates hairstyle tutorials for every day. I love her straight hairstyles

Lilith Moon– She creates beautiful soft hairstyles and uses extensions for many of them but you don’t have to.

Based on some of the videos I’ve watched, here are a few of the hairstyles I was able to recreate:

I like to step outside of my comfort zone to try hairstyles done with people who have hair that’s not like mine.

Now, this is just a small sampling of Youtubers. There are many others that you can find not only hairstyle inspiration from, but hair care info. based on your specific hair type.

If you have what may be considered a 3C/4A curly type hair or just type 4 hair in general, then check out some of the cute natural hairstyles that I’ve created.

Why Not Pinterest?

You are probably wondering why I chose YouTube over Pinterest as the best source of hairstyling inspiration and ideas.

Well, it’s not that Pinterest isn’t a good place to get ideas for new hairstyles. I’ve discovered a few issues that are a concern for me. They may not be for you but here’s shat I have a problem with hairstyling ideas on Pinterest:

  • There are too many AI images. These hairstyles are cute but they just aren’t realistic for the average woman’s head of hair
  • Most of the hairstyles I see on Pinterest are done with added hair. While it can make a style look a bit more polished, it’s not really great for maintaining healthy hair. Added hair tends to leach moisture from your natural strands
  • Lastly, the hairstyle ideas I find on Pinterest aren’t easy to do and I’m all about easy! I don’t get inspiration from styles done by professionals. Why? I can’t nor will I attempt to do them ha!

So, in my opinion, for the average lady looking for easy styles, YouTube is my best source of inspiration.

Do you go to YouTube to find some inspiration when seeking new styles?

If so, who are your favorite YouTubers?
