How Spending Time With God Can Make You a Better Mom and Wife

We are born into this world selfish beings. Sure, some are more selfish than others but at the core of mankind is selfishness. That’s because of sin. it’s our nature and there’s only one cure for it…Jesus.
Before I became a Christian, my life was all about self preservation. I fought my own battles and God was the furthest thing from my mind. Then, one day He graciously spared my life and saved me. That is when I became aware of how it’s much better when  God fights your battles.
Now, I admit that I still battle with that whole selfishness thing. It’s always there.
The difference in my life now is that when I’m going about my day to day business of things, I have a Guide, the Holy Spirit. He checks me when I’m living out of line. You know. Times like when your husband asks you to do something but you get an attitude because you don’t feel like it. Or, times like when your children seem to be tap dancing on your last nerve and all you want to do is explode.
Can you relate?
Well, I’ve come to share that spending time with God can help. Being in His presence not only helps you to be a better person. It also helps you be a better mom and a better wife. Spending time with God on a regular basis immerses you in His presence which in turn exposes you to all the good qualities you don’t natural possess. Qualities like…
– Patience
– Kindness
– Joy
– Love
You get the picture. God’s all encompassing presence can transform even the most selfish, uptight and out of sorts woman and turn her into someone who her husband and her children adore and respect (See . This goes for men too but since the title of this article is for women, let’s focus on us 🙂
I saw the movie War Room recently. This movie was unlike any other Christian movie I have seen. I don’t want to spoil it in case you haven’t seen it (I highly recommend that you do) so let’s just say, it sheds a lot of light on the role of a Godly woman and how spending time with God makes the biggest impression on a husband and children.
Prayer is not something to be taken lightly. I’m not what I’d call a prayer warrior but I know that when I shut out the world and spend time with God, I’m always the better for it. Focusing on how great He is, helps you to release the problems in your own world. You stress less, sleep better and have more energy. That’s because God is leading and guiding you. if you listen to Him, you’ll not over-commit yourself and will have less moments feeling like you want to “cut” someone 🙂
