Today’s episode may be a little bit premature for some and maybe even late for others but for the most part we are all about to cross over into the spring season.

So, today I really wanted to share with you some tips and ideas on spring cleaning your spiritual and your physical life. Let’s start with our physical space since that may be a little bit easier to tackle.

Spring Cleaning Ideas: Your Physical Space

Let’s think about things in your physical space – cluttering what no longer serves you or what you really never use in the first place.

One thing about spring cleaning is people think about cleaning their homes, you know, dusting the baseboards and cleaning the windows, but decluttering your space and removing things that either no longer serve you or things that could better serve someone else will clear out space for you.

Because, when you have a lot of clutter and trust me, I know this so so well having had three children growing up and them collecting things and then, even after they’re all out of the house, except for one, because, you know, one has special needs and he’ll be with me forever until we both part this earthl but the thing is, clutter just seems to creep its way in, especially over the months when it’s cold outside.

It’s like we tend to hoard more things. We tend to look for things for comfort. Maybe you shop a little bit more than you normally would when you aren’t able to go outdoors. I know I do. Especially with online shopping, just kind of like looking for things to do.

And, perhaps you just haven’t decluttered your space in a while. So, the spring-time is a great time to declutter your physical space.

Now, this also includes things like your personal care products. It may not necessarily mean decluttering those things as it means making a change to the type of products that you use.

So, your skin care products, your hair products, your nail care products; all the different personal care items that you use for your body. It may be that this is a great time to sort of like refresh those things.

Like for me, for example, I used pretty much two hair care lines that I normally would just always go to and use. And, as I got kind of close to the end of those, I figured this is a great time to switch it up and try another brand that I have been eyeballing.

So, on my blog Fine Natural Hair and Faith, I actually will share that and on my YouTube channel, I will share in more detail what those products are. I’ll leave a link to those um locations, you know, those resources down in the show notes, but for the most part, I’m trying new hair care lines now. Just two, because you don’t want to overwhelm, not know what’s working.

But, I’m trying two new lines and I’m sort of rotating those two lines to see, “Do I want to continue with these?” Maybe these will be my spring hair products. Maybe they’ll be my summer products. I’m not sure yet. But the point is that when you’re going through your personal care products, this is a great time in spring to decide if you want to switch some things up.

Now skin care products; skin care products are big when it comes to being able to change them up for the seasons. For one, as the weather gets warmer, if you haven’t been wearing sunscreen, you definitely want to start doing so as you spend more time outdoors.

However, the season really doesn’t matter as it relates to sunscreen. You should wear it all the time. Also, you may want to use a sunscreen with a little bit of a higher SPF, as the weather warms and you spend more time outdoors.

The point is, again, to reevaluate the products that you’re using.

For me, I just discovered for myself that, as it relates to my skin care products, there are two lines that I really, really love. And one of them is Drmtly. It’s a Korean-based skincare line. and the other line is um darn, I’m blinking on that one, but anyway, I’ll leave links tothem in the show notes below to the skin care lines that I use.

Actually scratch that. I have a YouTube video where I share all of the skin care products that I’m using at the age that I am and my skin is in really good condition.

So, I’ve reevaluated my skin care products and I don’t see any need for change, but the point is, that in the springtime, it’s a great time to at least go through the process of reevaluating.

Now let’s talk nails, ladies. I used to do my own nails. I went through a season where I was painting my own nails like every week. I decided that I really don’t want to do that anymore.

At this stage of my life, I feel like I just don’t have the time to be consistent. So, I’ve decided to get monthly manicures. You know, if I get a dip powder or a gel manicure, that can last me an entire month.

Spring Cleaning Your Routines

I will not be doing pedicures until I actually wear my feet out, but the point again is I am reevaluating. So, I recommend that you reevaluate not only your personal care products, but your routines.

So for me, like I said a change in my nail care routine. I’m also having changes with my hair care routine.

My hair care is typically DIY. I wash my own hair. I protect my own hair. I style my own hair. However, in this new season that I am in, I will be going to a stylist twice a year. The reason why it’s only twice a year is because those are the times when I am going to let this stylist put a scissor to my ends.

And, so this is a great time to decide:

  • Do you want to continue with DIY hair care?
  • Perhaps you want to seek out a stylist who you can trust not to butcher up your strands

I found a salon (well, actually my daughter found the salon and she’s been there multiple times and I’ve also seen videos of people who have gone to this specific salon in New York and they were very pleased. The results were beautiful.) I know now that I can trust to go and take my hair and put it in the hands of someone to sort of do what maintenance thing for me twice a year.

It’ll be for me, spring and winter.

So, those are the routines that I’ve evaluated from my hair and my skin care. I’ve evaluated how I’m going to do it.

There’s a morning routine. There’s an evening routine.

What you do in the morning and what you do in the evening to care for your hair, your skin, your home.

Cleaning is a big routine that you can evaluate for the spring.

Just because you’re cleaning your physical space, doesn’t mean you’re doing it in the most productive way.

Perhaps you need to make some tweaks. Spring, again is the time to re-evaluate all of these things.

Now, your digital space. Your digital space, while you can’t see it, I still consider that your physical space because it’s definitely separate from your spiritual life.

So, your digital space includes things like your computers, your phones, and even online storage.

Go through those areas, delete or archive what you no longer use or need or maybe you’ve had some changes.

For me, in my business, there’s certain things that I downloaded because I thought these would be productive to help me with my business. And, I realized I’m not using them because I’m using other things, other files, other systems.

That’s when I decided to just delete or repurpose some of those items.

Your physical space may have physical items, but your digital space has digital items. They’re still part of your physical life, so to speak.

Spring Cleaning Your Spiritual Life

Now, let’s get into spring cleaning your spiritual life. This is more important in my opinion than spring cleaning your physical life.

There are so many things to evaluate, but let me give you some ideas.:

  • What are you watching?
  • What are you listening to?
  • Who is in your circle of friends?
  • Are you spending enough quality time with God?
  • Do you wake up and seek God first or do you seek your social accounts first?

I mean, these are honest questions that you can take and sit down with a journal and write out your thoughts – journal out your feelings in response to these questions.

These questions will help you to evaluate your spiritual life.

When you’re spring cleaning your spiritual life, at the end of your spring cleaning, you should have a tighter-knit circle of friends, people who serve you who do not drain you; people who you serve and do not take for granted.

You should be deciding on what you’re going to feed your spirit – the programs that you watch

I personally, used to watch lots of different shows and I realized these shows are toxic to my spirit and they had to go. While they may be entertaining, in the long haul only what you do for Christ will last.

In the long hall, what you use to feed your spirit is what’s going to determine your character. It’s going to determine your habits. It’s going to determine so much in your life and you don’t want to waste time, you know, just feeding yourself garbage.

Now, I didn’t include this in the spiritual life, but this could be spiritual for you.

What do you feed your physical body? Yes, that sort of physical, but depending on the purpose and the drive behind what you eat.

Let’s say, for example, you’re eating in response to emotional things happening in your life or you’re eating out of boredom, or you’re eating for comfort.

Perhaps there is a spiritual root to that. So, that’s something that you really could take stock of and evaluate during this new season.

Because, at the end of 2025 or the end of any year, really, you should be able to look back on your year and see some type of progress and some type of growth.

In Conclusion

I’ll leave you with this….

As it relates to spring cleaning your spiritual life, seeking God for the changes that you need to make in your life is going to be far more productive.

You’ll have a way cleaner spiritual life when you seek Him and ask Him the areas of your life that you need to make adjustments. Then, trust the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you as such.

Until next time stay faithful stay beautiful and keep caring for your crown love.
