Devotional: God’s Love Letter to Humanity

a Christian devotional for women

Intro
God’s love seems to be unimaginable and difficult to comprehend at times. This is because we humans know in our deepest heart of hearts that we don’t deserve His love.
Even if you haven’t killed anyone or committed any “serious” sins, you’ve still sinned. That’s because it’s in your nature. In other words, you were born in sin.
So, why do we even deserve the love of a Holy God if we are sinners – contrary to His Holy nature? The short answer is we don’t.
The best answer is it doesn’t matter. God loves us in spite of our flaws. That’s why He sent Jesus to redeem us from being stained with sin forever. God loves us so much that He gave the best that He had to give and He tells us all about it in His love letter to us: The Holy Bible.
Scripture Focus: Message of Love
God’s message of love is woven throughout the pages of the Bible but the verse that strikes so deeply to me is Isaiah 54:10. Here it is in 3 versions:
“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 (ESV)
“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the LORD, who has mercy on you.” (NLT)
“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, Nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,” Says the LORD who has compassion on you.” (AMP)
And, in case you’re thinking, “But, that’s the Old Testament. God was talking to the Israelites.” Here’s one for you from the New Testament (and there are many more like it):
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8 (NLT)

Encouragement: Tools and Resources to Study The Word
If you’re having difficulty accepting God’s love or just simply understanding it, you aren’t alone. God, however, has not left you to figure it out on your own. When you take time to dig into His Word to discover what He has to say about His love for us, you’ll be astonished at the great depths of His care for humanity – especially His daughters.
We daughters of God hold a special place in God’s heart. Just think if you were a father. Fathers tend to dote on their little girls. So, imagine how much more God the Father of fathers feels.

For a practical, fun way to study the Bible, allow me to introduce you to the James Method. This method of studying scripture will lead you down a rabbit hole (in the best way!) through the Word. The system of studying includes:
- Doing a book study followed by…
- A chapter study. Then…
- Verse mapping the scriptures and finally…
- Doing individual word studies
The James Method is fascinating and has helped me to really spend more time in the Word of God. Check it out here.
Reflections: What Happens When You Understand God’s Love Letter
As you discover more about God’s love for you, it will cause you to see yourself in a different light. You’ll see your circumstances in a different light.
When you know God loves you, you’ll believe He will do as He said. When you know God loves you, you’ll believe:
- He’ll heal you
- He will provide for you
- He’ll fight for you
God Note: Overarching Message of God’s Love Letter
For every faith-based devotional I write, I want you to focus on the key message. So, I create what I like to call a note from God (because it is always based on scripture). This devotional was written to help you see the overwhelming love that God has for you.
“My unfailing love for you will not be shaken.”
