Intro
When you began your life in the Christian faith, you started a journey. On this journey, you quickly learn that you need the Holy Spirit to help you grow spiritually.
Yet, while you should look to the Holy Spirit for spiritual growth each day of your life, it’s important to reflect on your walk with God throughout the year. It’s just like you would evaluate other areas of your life at the end of a year.
Have you grown in your faith?
How much did you spend praying for others?
Where have you seen God’s hand at work in your life?
Were you obedient to the call on your life?
Are you exhibiting the characteristics of a Proverbs 31 woman?
Have you been faithful with the resources God has allowed to flow through your hands?
Take some time over the Christmas break or some time before the end of the year to consider your spiritual walk. Be thankful for growth, and ask the Lord to help you identify areas where you need His help.
This is Biblical womanhood – actively seeking God’s will for your life and regularly examining your life so that you can exhibit a heart that reflects that of the Lord’s.
Scripture Focus
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18 (NIV)
“and increase ye in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; to him [is] the glory both now, and to the day of the age! Amen.” (YLT)
“But grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be all glory and splendid honor, both now and forevermore. Good-bye.” (TLB)
Each version of this scripture says the same thing but in a different way. It’s a good practice to read different versions for you never know which version the Holy Spirit will show you something very specific for your life.
Reflections
I want you to see this short devotional as your message of hope. Nobody lives a perfect life and there are no good Christians. People add those labels. When God sees us, He sees His work in progress and it’s always good.
Take a moment to reflect on your year. Here are some areas to get you started:
- Growth: How have you seen God’s grace in your life? In what areas have you grown in knowledge or your faith in Him?
- Challenges: What struggles or challenges did you have, and how did God meet you in those moments or seasons?
- Relationships: How have your relationships, both with God and others grown or been tested this year?
Encouragement
As we wrap up another year, recognize that as we enter a new year, we also enter a new season of life. No matter where you are in your faith, God is with you.
There is always room for growth, and He will help you continue to deepen your relationship with Him as you seek after Him. Keep pressing forward, trusting that He is at work in every area of your life.
God Note
For every faith-based devotional for women I write, I want you to focus on the key message. So, I create what I like to call a note from God (because it is always based on scripture).
Consider pinning this to Pinterest to share this short devotion with other women of God.
“I am with you in every step of your journey on earth; continue to grow in My grace and knowledge.” – God
