5 Must Have Summer Hair Products for Fine Hair
Let’s face it. Fine hair needs extra protection year round. The products you use this summer need to facilitate that protection. Yet, they need to also be lightweight. Below you’ll find recommended summer products for fine hair.
You will also find specific product recommendations for each product type. These are the summer hair products that I recommend everyone with fine hair have in their arsenal.
Especially, if you are going to spend a lot of time outdoors now that things are opening up again (at the writing of this post, we are in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic).
A Mousse
Mousses are great stylers for fine hair. That’s because they are light weight and often will provide some form of hold. Look for a mousse that provides some form of hold while also combatting frizz – a common problem for those of us with fine hair.
Jane Carter Wrap and Roll Mousse
This product dries quickly, seals the cuticle and adds shine without weighing the hair down.
It’s great for the summer because it also helps fight frizz.
Joico JoiWhip Firm Hold Designing Foam
As an alternative to Jane Carter, this mousse is the bees knees.
Highly rated on Amazon by over 1k users, Joico’s foam mousse provides hair with a firm hold (great for the summer months) while also containing the fortifying ingredient, hydrolyzed keratin.
This product will add volume without weighing your hair down. 2 thumbs up for fine hair!
Lightweight gel
Something crucial for fine hair is keeping your curls clumped. That’s because it provides what I like to call, “safety in numbers.” A gel will accomplish that for you.
You’ll want to use a lightweight gel that also feeds your fine strands with beneficial nutrients.
Kinky Curly Knot Today Curling Custard
This lightweight gel custard from Kinky Curly contains botanical ingredients to nourish and strengthen your hair while also clumping your curls. It pairs really well with their leave in.
That means your curls will be protected and defined.
You can find Kinky Curly products at Target, Whole Foods and virtually everywhere online that sells beauty supply items.
Deep conditioner
Deep conditioning is something that you need to always do after washing your hair. Yet, the type of deep conditioner you use may need to be changed during certain seasons.
In the summer, look for deep conditioners that really infuse your hair with moisture, help in the fight against frizz and contain ingredients that soothe the scalp.
Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Penetrating Hair Treatment
This coconut water deep conditioner from Camille Rose Naturals is great year round but really great for the summer months.
It’s super hydrating, strengthening and contains ingredients with anti-fungal properties – great for summer when you may sweat in your hair and scalp.
If you’re near a Target, be sure to pick this up.
Leave in conditioner
Leave in conditioner isn’t always necessary but if you are going to use one in the summer, look for one that can also protect your hair from sun damage.
Sun Bum 3 in 1 Leave in Conditioner
This vegan leave in conditioner provides 3 in 1 protection. Protection from:
- Tangles
- Sun
- Frizz
I really like this brand and their sunscreen for skin. So, it’s no surprise that the leave in conditioner is a hit as well. It has over 5,000 reviews at nearly (can’t please everyone) 5 stars.
SPF
There are hair products on the market that contain added SPF and some with natural SPF protection. However, if you’re going to spend any length of time in the sun, you need added protection.
Below is one from Aveda that you can try. Great for if you’re going swimming as well:
Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil
This light weight spray provides an invisible film that protects the hair from the sun’s UV rays for up to 16 hours.
It’s infused with green tea extract, certified organic flower seed oil, Shea Butter, Coconut and palm oils, essential oils and vitamin E.
Us ladies with fine hair may require extra protection for our hair. However, what we don’t require is a whole heap of products.
That is why there’s only five hair products I think you absolutely must have this summer. That doesn’t mean you can’t own or use others. These are just the 5 must have summer products for fine hair that will help protect from sun damage as well as strengthen and moisturize.
