May Simplified Hair Routine

Starting a brand new month here at Fine Natural Hair and Faith, yields a brand new hair care routine. Below you will find my simplified hair routine for the month of May.
Why A Simplified Hair Routine?
In every post I share my monthly simplified hair routine. I always explain the why of this method of hair care. I’m just providing you with a brief overview of why for the year of 2021 I am following simple hair routines.
It’s not earth shattering.
Basically with 2020 bringing about an almost complete abruption to life as we know it, I decided to simplify a lot in 2021.
I no longer want to obsess over doing my hair. I also don’t want to spend all my time (at home) just doing hair. Lastly, I just want to use up all these products and minimize so I can use ONLY what I love.
Can you relate to that?
Benefits of a Simplified Hair Routine
Aside from minimizing my hair care and using up a bunch of hair products, there are additional benefits to this simple hair care routine including:
- Honing in on the hair products your hair loves
- Saving money since you are using the same hair products for a full month
- Improving length retention due to less hair manipulation
Plus, My Faith
I believe that God should be a part of every aspect of your life. He created us and that includes your hair so why wouldn’t a believer want to keep God involved in that as well? This is especially the case if you are having challenges with your hair.
The Creator knows exactly what we need.
That’s why I’m also focusing on a scripture for the month that simply aligns my faith with my hair care.

Scripture for May
For the month of May I’m focusing on this verse of scripture from 1 Peter 5:7 that says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
This verse of scripture encourages us to lay it all at God’s feet. I believe that includes our hair care. God wants to take care of his children – every part of us Anyway, let’s move on.
My Hair Plans
Now that you know my “why” for this way of hair care, let’s look at my what – products and routine.
The Hair Routine and Products Used
My hair routine is again weekly for the month of May and takes place on Saturdays (alternatively on Sundays):
- Pre-poo
- Wash
- Deep Condition
- Style ( 1-2 times per week)
- Scalp massage + Seal Ends
One more thing…. In the post where I share my April hair style (linked below), I mentioned how I was doing a 30 day experiment applying Jamaican Black Castor Oil to my ends. Here’s the video if you don’t want to read the post:
May’s Hairstyle
Lastly, my hair style for the month is a bubble ponytail. I love this style as it’s very minimal and showcases my length even with shrinkage.
Tying my hair down at night prevents me from having to redo this style every day. It’s super low manipulation and even protective since my ends are not very exposed (it’s tucked into the rubber band).
