July Simplified Hair Routine
Last updated on November 10th, 2023 at 11:40 am
Hello July. Each month I share a simplified hair care routine and this one is the simplest yet. It’s all about low manipulation…as usual.
Why A Simplified Hair Care Routine?
Every month before I share my simplified hair care routine, I give a quick explanation of the benefits of this method of hair care just in case anyone reading is new here. If you’ve been following this blog since January of 2021, you can skip this section.
After the pandemic forced everyone to slow down and stay home, there was not much reason to do my hair all fancy each day. All that was needed was to keep it moisturized and conditioned.
Since that doesn’t take much, I also cut back on styling and focused on doing the least but the necessary.
I hate wasting money so I’m using up hair care products I don’t really love so I can focus on the ones I do. However, anything that I absolutely hated I just tossed.
Simplified Hair Care Routine Benefits
Besides reducing the number of products used and the amount of time caring for my hair, there are other benefits to this simplified care hair routine.
These benefits include:
- Discovering and focusing on the hair products your hair loves
- Saving money since you’ll be using the same hair products for a month
- Length retention because of less manipulation
Faith Based Hair Care
Including God in every aspect of life is one of my core beliefs. Since God is our Creator (and that includes our hair), as a believer it makes sense to me that we should involve the one who knows what we need to have a healthy growing head of hair.
So, I focus on a specific scripture for each month to help me keep God’s promise before me.

Scripture for July
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
This scripture means so much to me in every aspect of my life. For years the Lord would put this scripture before my eyes to remind me of the good plans He has for my life.
Only just recently did I realize that this includes even what some would consider the mundane areas of life. Healthy hair is a part of the life I want to have.
July Hair Plans
Let’s now review the hair products and routine I’ll be following for the month of July.
Fine Hair Routine for July
For the month of July, I’ll only be washing my hair twice. That’s every two weeks. The reason for this is the hair style that I will be rocking.
On Saturday or Sunday (twice this month), I will (with my braids in):
- Pre-poo
- Cleanse
- Deep condition
- Rinse and use a leave in conditioner
- Massage scalp 3x a week
- Spritz hair and seal ends 3 x a week
July Hairstyle
Last month I was really into the wash and go. It was so hot however, I ended up just always putting my hair up.
When I find that I really don’t want to do my hair, that’s a signal to move on to a protective style.
So, for the month of July I’ll be keeping my hair in braids. I don’t add fake hair to my hair so my braids are uneven in length. This is how my hair naturally grows and I’m OK with it.
In order for my braids not to be seen as uneven, I will be styling them in a manner that puts them up. So, braids in a bun, ponytail or French roll – very low manipulation
Upcoming: Next month’s style will be all buns.
